you can change the direction the wave is flowing with the sparkles n stuff by a quick shake of the sixaxis
i dont know if anyone else was aware but its kinda cool...and of course the sparkles are affected when you navigate the menu up or down quickly as is the direction of flow when you go left or right

Yeah, the sixaxis does more than that. Try moving the controler up, away, down, towards, repeat...if you do it fast enough all the sparkles get compressed to a stream of sparkles.
