my sons PS3 wont ....play DVD's/only loads certain games/freezes after loading/screen goes blank/cant turn it off and won't update - freezes

Had the same problem 4 days ago with ps3 60gb(1 year & 361 days old). Tried lots of diffferent resets, no joy. I rang sony and they told me to return it to where I bought it and exchange it for a recon model at a charge of 160 euro(3 month warranty). Bit the bullet and bought new console (2 year warranty). If you do google searches you will come accross lots of things to try, some might work for your console.This seems to be a very common problem but sony are not admitting that there is a problem.
