I have one of the first PS3 systems made, the 80GB backwards compatible one. The bluray laser went out on it about a year after buying it so I replaced it and everything worked fine and still does for the most part...lol When the PS3 is hooked up to my 46inch plasma via HDMI everything works great. No problems at all. Sometimes my kid likes to play for hours and when he does that he hooks the PS3 up to his AcerHD Monitor with built in speakers. We, this is where my problem comes up. It worked fine for a while and now all of a sudden we can't get any sound out of the monitor when playing games on DVDs, all the demos work with sound and don't have any other problems, just no sound when playing games on DVDs. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

by dvds do you mean bluray ?
yes, the games we pay $60.00 to play on the PS3. Anyway, I got and answer on another thread and I solved the problem by resetting the system and doing a reboot. Problem solved.
