Alright so I just got a brand new 160GB PS3 and I have a couple questions about it. I read something about using a proxy to get demos and things from other regions and stuff like that. I have firmware 3.01 can I still do this or has it been fixed? Also does the PS3 have a limitation on how big of a hard drive it can use?

The proxy was used to evade having to update the firmware for those dim enough to think the ps3 was going to get hacked in the near future circa 2 years ago.

To download demos and such from another region you can create another PSN and set it up for the country under england or japan or wherever; and then you can access it on your main account.

However if you want to access Home from other regions you will ave to access it on those other accounts from the designated regions.

Internal HD = 500gig (thats the largest that I have heard of anyway.)

External = @ 2tb (largest that i have heard of)

The reason internal HDDs currently have a max of 500GB (I think the new max is 750) is because they're 2.5" laptop hard drives. If you were to hook up a 3.5" drive to the SATA port, you could go up as high as the max size for 3.5" HDDs... which I believe is 1-2 TB for a single drive. I could be wrong.

I know you can just make another account to get it but there are other things that can be done with the proxy. I just want to know if its still possible or if they fixed it with a firmware revision.

I haven't heard that it has been eliminated, its been quite some time since its been brought up. iirc it could be used for downloading demo's as well after you download them onto your on computer but its rather pointless these days.

Basically I was reading you could get full game downloads from the store with it for free. As well as add-ons and stuff like that. But I know we can't talk about that so my question is answered.

That was eliminated a long time ago, i think before firmware 2.0
