im streaming a 1080p movies from my laptop to my ps3.
but when i want to play the movie it freezes and plays again every 2 or 3 seconds. it freezes a second and then plays 1 or 2 seconds and this goes all the movie like this.
my ps3 is set to 1080p so i think that cant be the problem.
my tv is a samsung full hd.

no the PS3 has nothing to do with it.
3 things matter.
1st if your laptop's Lan Adapter is up to 1000
2nd if your laptopo have enough power to deal with 1080p.
3rd Even tho that your laptop maybe have 1000mbps lan and enough power to deal with 1080p, if you have them connected to a router that supports up to 100mbps lan speed is piontless.

if you streaming 1080p through WiFI that is also an issue.
If you are using Jave PS3 Media Server there is an option at teh Transcoding Settings Tab>> Video Quality Setting.
See the description and chose the one that suites your needs

if it is at the right format, MKV is not supported by ps3.
check here:

The most popular software to make an mkv to a PS3 compatible format are the followings
MKV2VOB
GotSent
TSmuxer

My recommendation is DO NOT BOTHER!
I quited the idea of playing HD content to my ps3, or any video content at all to be honest.
I got sick of all that transcoding, encoding, containers, avc, vc all that waiting time and all that 5h!t.
it takes more to make and HD movie PS3 compatible than to download it.
I really do believe that the video playback of ps3 is the most useless thing on it.

I bought WDTV and i found my peace, i recommend you to do the same.

Its actually not that difficult at all. You paid good money for the PS3 might as well use it to its full potential.

It all depends on the speed of your connection. I suggest you hard wire your PS3 instead of using wifi. Sometimes wifi can be slow if there is interferance with the signal.

And use Tversity or PS3 media server. It streams mkv files so you dont even have to convert. Dont use WMP11 its slow.

But if you do want to convert then google a program called TSmuxer. It converts mkv to .m2ts format which works on the PS3 without loosing quality. The program is so easy to use its just a few clicks and you are done. Takes about 5-10 mins to convert with my PC and its an average PC not even super fast or anything.

Dont give up and spend more money unnecessary. Its gets easy once you get used to it and know exactly what you are doing. Watching HD movies on the PS3 is awesome. Not useless at all unlike that whatchamacallit brick that plays HD DVDs on the 360 :)
