For some reason, when I play Modern Warfare 2 for 2 and a half hour, the fan gets pretty loud and I mean a lot louder then usual. It only happens when I play Modern Warfare 2, but when I play my other games like Resident Evil 5 or Batman: Arkham Asylum it doesn't happen. Could it be Modern Warfare 2 or my PS3? Because I just got Modern Warfare 2 a week ago, and my PS3 never had any problem with the fan being that loud.
The fan is speeding up to cool down your systems after an extended period of play on a graphically intense game. Ensure your PS3 is in a wide open space, and try not to have the room tempreture too high.
You only need to worry if it starts swritching off/rebooting/kicking you out to the XMB, otherwise, the fan is just doing its job.
I noticed this on sabateur when I was having a zeppelin-shooting spree...the fan got noticably louder. I did the fan test, and it was louder still...so I know that it still has more in it...it just sounds overtaxed.

Two things I can think of, 1. was game new, or second hand. Disk may have been damaged, especially if it was taken out of packaging and stored in sleeve until sale, inept salespeople may have damaged it, so carefully check surface of disc, and 2. Your blu-ray may have a problem, dust or other things, e.g smoke from cigarettes may have coated laser, etc. If it is the only game that doesn't load, then disc, if others don't load, your system may have a problem. If you can get a proper cleaning disk, this may be a solution, use instructions to use cleaner properly. Just my suggestion.It is your decision as to what to do.
Well the game was brand new. And the first time i played Modern Warfare 2 it worked fine but after it froze in the middle of loading the game. I think it is the system and something to do with the Blu-ray player inside the ps3 but how do i clean the dust etc. inside the ps3?

It depends on your abilities/ skills, and if PS3 is still under warranty. First, invest in a DVD / Blu Ray cleaner, that will insure it is clean, then check with another game, does it load properly, play well, any problems. Have you done this yet? If you have determined the unit is working with other games, then the bluray is o.k, and the unit working properly. It could be a faulty game. To clean unit inside means you have to take the cover off, if you are prepared to do this, there are threads that will lead you through the steps.
