PS3 Blu-Ray Drive Problem

I'm new here and have been going through the forums trying to find an answer to my problem, and haven't been succseful.

My PS3 Stopped reading games/dvds, i called sony and they gave me the standard "send it in" for $150 repair. I unplugged my PS3 for a few minutes and plugged it back in and it started working again. ishut it down and tryed to play it again a while later and it gave me the same problem, so i took the game out and put in another and it worked fine. im figuring that my lense is either dirty or ready to die. i found a "blu-ray lense cleaner" made by Maxell on amazon. i was wondering if any of you guys have used this before i purchase it. if not would you suggest opening up the PS3 and cleaning the lense myself? I've opened my Ps3 in the past when my 2 year old stuffed 6 games in the drive and they wouldn't eject. i took it apart got the games out and put it back together with out a problem. from what ive been reading on here the feelings about cleaning the lense yourself have been mixed. can you guys help me out? THANKS
