When i press the eject button the ps3 beeps 3 times.
I have tried a realignment and have also tested the worm screw battery and it seems to be functioning.
The sensor on the lid seems to be operating as when insert disc with the ps3 off , it turns on.
I have searched online for a fix without prevail, any tips or fixes would be appericated, this forum is unfortuanly my last resort, if a FAIL, i am going to have to purchase a newdrive
iv had the drive apart, checked the motor is working and realigned also the sensor is working fine as when i place disc in the ps3 boots up, however the mechaisum that pull the disc in, is not functioning.
When i press the eject button the ps3 beeps 3 times..
Maybe you have the same issue as I did. I JUST got my 1st of 3 PS3's I bought for $100 bucks on eBay on Friday...all YLOD 60GB FATS. The auction stated it had a STUCK disc (other tow don't but don't have them yet). I took the system apart, reflowed with heatgun, back together within an hour....fired it up...saw green....was HAPPY. Then tried turning it on by pressing EJECT (was hoping to get a sweet game for free LOL...I wanted COD 4 or WAW or something like GILSKY did on his youtube fix video LOLOL). I got nothing....so then I tried putting a disc in....nothing. I was so pissed. I was like WTF now I'm gonna have to spend $100 or more on a blue rady drive (defeating the purpose of getting PS3 for as cheap as possible). Took the drive apart, couldnt figure it out...gave up. Next morning, opend it aagin...this time I was able to take out the FRONT LOADING SECTION....which is held by ONE screw on the TOP of the INSIDE bottom half. When I took it out, I realized that one of the metal legs was popped out....I put it back in place.
Put it back together....plugged it in....crossed my fingers....tired it and BAM it WORKED.
I had the same issue as you.....WHEN PS3 powered on I could hear the Blueray drive clicking for a second then stop.....it would not accept or eject a disc.....hiting eject once would get a clikcing.....after would give 3 BEEPS......the FRONT LOADING MOTOR DID NOT SPIN OR WORK....
but once I popped the metal leg back in and MATCHED THE GEARS on the bottom corners of the front loading part witht eh DRIVE.....the front part started workign and now it takes dics in and wokr perectly fine!!
take the drive right apart and that my be your issue as well
getting ps3 for $100 was sweet, thank god I dont need a NEW drive!
LOL NO damn, no free game (there was no stuck disc after all)
scopeh,
When you say tracks? what do you mean?
I am talking about if you take out that section that "grabs/cradles the dvd/bleray when you insert it....on the underside of that removable section....there will be two arms that cross over one another (like an X)....its was one of these that was popped out of place.....I did not notice it until I went back at it for a second time the next morning....before then I actually thought it was a dead drive (and Im am a tech guy and know my shit). I state again, I had nothing mis aligned or anything in terms of the "track" but the thing that popped loose looks like it kept the FEED motor from even spinning at power up or at all.
if you sre able to move that disc feed part without it locking up it may not be stuck but for me I couldnt get any of that part to move or budge til i realized it was popped out of place (it almost looked like nothing was even wrong....until I took a close look at it ------- EDIT>>>THIS ONLY APPLIES WHEN IT HAS BEEN REMOVED>>>>IF LEFT IN IT WILL NOT MOVE AS ITS LOCKED IN THE GEARS.
also, try powering it up after you have removed that FEED sction you will be able to see if the feed motor is working or not....
the MAIN TELL that I could see is.......if you have those 2 platics tabs sticking up in the front of the drive preventing a CD/DVD from going in......it may be a good chance that area is your problem.....and play aroudn with it til you can get them to go down and then try playing with it again.
