PS3 CECHH01 Blu Ray No Motion or Laser

I have a PS3 Model CECHH01 that when I remove case to blu ray, plug in and turn back on to oversee the laser and driver it does nothing. I get no reaction what-so-ever from the drive (no motion at all). From all of your experiences will a replacement drive assembly w/ laser have a snowball's chance in hell of fixing this or is it the control board (and specifically the IC chip)?

Any of you have similar issue and acquire a new drive assembly to find that fixed your misfortune? I am really not trying to get involved with the control board at all bc I know how much of a pain in the @$$ that thing can be. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
