I doubt you will get anything free.

What worries me is the potential for future problems. AFAIK, the problem was caused by the bios clock recognising 2010 as a leap year (therefore giving the an incorrect date) and not matching up with OS clock.
The BIOS clock can not be changed by Sony in any firmware updates. Surely this means that the next year when there is a leap year, the clock will NOT read it as one, and cause the same issue?

Seriously?

The next step is to simply just get over the extremely minor inconvenience of it without a sense of entitlement.

See I find that a bit odd/funny because I don't remember any sort of similar issue back in Feb. 2007 OR 2009 so what you believe doesn't make any sense. From all that I have read, it seems to be that the clock issue revolves around it looking at every even year as a leap year. So the next time this MAY possibly be an issue would be in 2014, as 2012 is an actual leap year and it will work perfectly fine.

On topic though ~

^^^ This sums up exactly what I feel very nicely.

I think that they should give you 1 month of PSN for free.

made myself laugh out loud. well, not out loud. I will talk to Sony and see if they will give all of us Phat owners 3 free men on COD4 single player mode.

It was a minor inconvenience and I doubt Sony will do anything to compensate but I am sure that that will not stop a few people from trying to make an easy buck off Sony. This is compared to the RROD a tiny small microscopic dot.

If you pay close attention to the PSN store, you will occasionaly find titles for free for a few hours at a time...call this your compensation.

The reason this did not happen last year is simple: The system has to have the battery installed (and charged) for 4 years before this glitch can happen (my system should have had this problem, but it did not because I removed the battery durring a rebuild in the past). I am guessing that sony played with their servers so that this will not happen again.

Ok, I talked to Sony last night. They will not give us Phat owners 3 free men for the single player on COD4. They are running low on Soap?s and McTavishes. They will however give everyone with a racing game, 1 free tank of gas for any vehicle with the exception of Diesel trucks on Motorstorm.

It is official, Sony will refund every cent spent on PSN memberships...they will begin transfering nothing to everyones accounts in a few days.

Well if Sony sticks to the time line, I'll be on PS4 by then.

On Topic: What will Sony do? ummmm......nothing.

I'm kind of curious as to whether people will throw up enough of a fuss about their Trophies to force Sony to do something. I doubt anyone is going to care enough about their Trophies to protest, and even if someone does, I doubt there's going to be enough people on the same wavelength to group together to force Sony to change the clock.

Of course, if it affected anything more than Trophies, it'd be a bit more understandable, but I remember maybe... one or two reports of systems being bricked by this. Maybe not even those; I could just be making them up and fooling myself.

I am guessing that there are more people asking for cross-game chat than there are asking for their trophies back...and I doubt sony will do anything for either group any time soon.

i really dont know why sony should do something, the trophies arent lost, if u log in to your profile via PC you'll see your trophies, the only thing that you have to do is load the game to re-install the trophies.
If you dont have the game well thats a prob, but the trophies arent lost from your profile.
I've lost RE5 and Hawx trophies but when i loaded the game/s all trophies came back.
Only thing that sony may have to do, is to make possible re-install the trophies without the game.

offtopic
They also need to enable an option to delete trophies/games, cause i have some games in my trophy list that i do not own the games and i am not willing to play whats so ever.

I work in a Sony centre. And officially they are giving anyone who complains about losing their trophies an official Sony Sad trophy in compensation.

Is that a joke, or is it real? If it is real, I'll complain!
