hi, this is probably a daft question after the threat about this was posted ages ago, i have a ps3 60GB console, the warrenty on the console is long gone but it stopped picking up discs, so i opened it up and took the blu-ray drive apart, then inserted a disc, the KES lifts up the way it should and takes the disc but does not spin it, so i took it out and then switched the console off then on again, the laser gave a red beem from it so i know its working, plus i also moved the KES laser and after switching it on the laser moved back to its origoanl postion again, so im thinking its the motor that the spindle sits on is either broken or burnt out, in wich case, i have a motor from another dvd player or a cd player and its about the same size. can these motors be replaced without any problems?
Try checking the ribbon that attaches the BluRay drive to the main board. Mine quit spinning disc after I opened it and it was because I didnt reattach that ribbon properly.
i have done all that, i have took the drive to bits and put it back together again and it still doesnt work. i cant even change the motor as the motor inside this thing is attached to the KES board. they make damn sure you cant take parts out to replace them huh! i did however find out somthing. before the drive wouldnt eject the disc so i had to open it to get the game back out, and after that the blue light didnt flash like its meant to when a disc is inserted it just stayed on, i totaly gave up on it today and put the drive back together without the magnet that sits at the top to hold the disc in place, the damn thing then decided to start searching for the disc after i put it all back together again!! so ye got that problem HALF sorted out but still wont spin the disc. i think ill just buy a new drive this thing dont know what its doing. the KES runners wont even lift up to take the disc when i put a disc in. even if i manualy raise it up it still doesnt work.
no never touched it, as i said i took it all to bits and put it back together again. think its the motor thats gone. like i said though i cant rplace the motor as its attached to the KES board.
