I have a 500GB western Digital HDD formatted to Fat32 for PS3 use. I put a lot of TV shows and the play real choppy and slow. But if I transfer the same show to the PS3 HDD they play great.

Any idea why this is happening? I really dont want to replace the HDD that is in the external case to put in the PS3 and vise versa. To much of a mission. I rather play all the movies straight for the WD external HDD.

Does the hard drive happen to be a USB 1.1 hard drive? That MIGHT explain why it's choppy and slow.

i have over 60 .mp4 files (tv shows). I put 1 and it was fast added 2 more and its slow as hell. Anyone know why or having the same issue?

Could be the read and write speeds of the drive along with access time and if its a crappy encloser its usb speeds may be lower than standerds of 2.0 even if its stated to be 2.0, other than that it may just hate you. Id hope for the first of the 2 ;)

I guess the case that WD used for he 500GB was crap.

Some people might argue that WD makes good drives, but only rabid WD fanboys think the cases are good; $15 cheap-o cases are better.

best thing to do if u dont want to deal with al the harware end of it is just copy the movie u want to atch to the ps3 with copy option that way u wont hav any problems and than u can just delete it or leave it after and all that jazz
