PS3 Freeze? (Help Solve PLEASE!)

so I have an issue similar to the one in this discussion, however I would like to know with a bit more assurance. My problem is when i play COD modern warfare 2 and black ops, so far. My ps3 begins a few steps after playing online in multiplayer. The first is it begins to slow (as if the connection is bad or something is overheating, where the sound becomes distorted), then it comes to a complete stop where the screen freezes (it does not turn black, i can see everything it just freezes), then after a few minutes more the system does quick 2 or three beeps and turns off. I have the old school ps3, its from 2006 or 2007, not sure. Anyway, i see in here it may be the firmware thing, so if anyone could verify, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Just update it? I have an PS3 1st generation 60GB and it's all thanks for updates...

okay, so LightXxX, this is what I have done so far. I have restored my ps3 and just installed the newest update 5.56. I was able to play online for long time the first day, which as of today was yesterday. Now I played online earlier and I could maybe get about a game or so out of it, until it started acting up again, now its about midnight and I just tried playing online again and couldnt even finish a game, both times it just freezes during game and sits there, doesnt turn off or anything, so if ya got some ideas, please shoot em by me, otherwise I think this week I will be making a trip to the local gaming place to fix this dam thing. I already replaced the lens and that was done by sony and then about a month or two ago, something was causing my system to overheat, so i brought to the local guys here and they took care of it, so now guess theyll b seeing me again. thanks

I dont know why because there's only one problem i needa get to but im 14 so i dont get what i wanted... My PS3 blu-Ray plaayer isn't working and what i mean is that it cant play blu-ray and it could only play regular disk...
