hi all i recently purchase a adapter for sound i read of a forum that it works on ps3, Anyway i plugged it in with my headset attached when i run a test or anything the headset buzzes im not sure if i can use the headset i have, also no sound comes thru the headset :( ..

If I had to guess, it would be the cheap adapter from the terrible company...but you can test the headset on it's own by using a computer or even an ipod/zune/portable cd plaer/etc.

That's the same headset I have had for my PC for the last 6 years! They are REALLY phenominal and worked well for me in CS 1.6 for a LOOONG time until I had to cut the "addiction" :)

But on to the topic at hand, I would have to agree it has to be the adapter...plus with the one you chose you lose the 5.1 capability of the headset! Anyway you are lucky that I have actually researched this for my set a while back for use with one of my PS3's by my PC. But I have to say ~ it's not cheap, not tested and pretty convoluted! Here are the things you would need IF the do work ~

A better/good USB Mic adapter like an iMic

Getting your hands on a TRITTON digital decoder ~ but here's the kicker...you need to get it separately and I don't they sell them like that

Or you could pick up a similar decoder that has optical in but the proper 2.5mm jacks (out) IF there is one out there available? But the easiest way would have been to get the other Medusa with optical capability or just get the (expensive) TRITTON.

Edit: I forgot to add that you could also eliminate the USB mic option if you had a PSEye because then, you could use that as the mic and get a camera with it!

yeah i got the madusa's for the same reason CS:S on pc, I figured that it wasnt working properly because of the external amp for the headset?
ive been browsing youtube and came across another solution i was thinking to just purchase that headset ive looked around and they have good review !!!

If you want the proper 5.1 you have to use the correct supporting 5.1 usb adapter OR decoder off of optical. Because using a standard 3.5mm jack off the TV will ONLY output stereo and will not give you correct spacial reference.

In the way I described above you have to use multiple 3.5mm adapters (I have a typo above that says 2.5) to get all the channels (front L/R, center, rear L/R & sub). But if you just want to use them and don't care about 5.1 then the video description option will work.
