Has anyone found an update for the ps3 jailbreak to get round the new 3.50 firmware that playstation have sneaked on to the new call of duty black ops? I've literally only just got my jailbreak dongle and playstation have already screwed me over!

So let me get this straight ~ you are using a product to try and screw Sony over and that is okay but when Sony tries to protect their product you take it as YOU are being screwed? Hhhmm...Oookaaaay...Not very realistic is it, wouldn't you say?

Who ever said I was trying to screw Sony over? I like to have my games backed up so I or my young kids don't ruin the discs! I have never downloaded any illegal Copys of games. I do not condone it whatsoever. I've had Sony consoles ever since the first playstation was released and have paid Sony a bloody fortune over the years for there games and products! And I would bet good money that if your searching around on this site YOU are the type of person involved in some kind of hacking or ripping some company off! so next time you decide to pop your opinion on a thread accusing people of something you have no idea about, I suggest you don't bother wasting your time. Idiot!

Wow. Calling a Moderator an "Idiot", Not good. Here's my thing and I am sure that there are some members here that are indeed "backing up" games that they legally own but the majority here,I highly doubt.I think its funny/convenient that a person justifies
pirating because he/she had a bad experience with a company.

These are the same people that complain that "games are too expensive".

Oh crap! I didn't actually realise when I went off on my rant that it was a moderator who posted that message. Idiot was maybe a bit harsh looking back. Was just very frustrated because I've only just found the jailbreak dongle. Finally thought I had a way to keep the disks away from the kids and give them an easier way of choosing what they want to play, and five minutes later Sony have shut me down. I completely understand that a lot of people may use it for pirating games, but at the same time people must see how frustrating it is for me when I don't! Anyway, this is all getting a bit off track. All I was after was an update for my dongle. Sorry if I offended anyone!

I am not gonna ban you but just to answer your "question" you DID say you were being "screwed over" thus my observational comment.

Just an observation... the argument re: protecting the discs from children is largely negated by the fact that the games are on BD. The hardcoats, such as Durabis2, used on the disc are exponentially more scratch-resistant than that used on DVDs in addition to mitigating fingerprints, dust, etc. One oft repeated test used to demonstrate the resiliency of BD media is the "steel wool test." Others have attempted to scratch the media with screwdrivers, write on it with Sharpies, etc. The end result is invariably the same... the disc ends up none the worse for wear.

Were we discussing cd or dvd based games, the backup argument would bear considerably more merit. By and large though, it's moot where BD is concerned.

Trust me, my kids will find a way to break even the most indestructible of things! The death toll currently stands at 4 ps3 games! And at £40 a pop it's getting a little bit expensive!

I don't even have kids and I have two disks that were destroyed (while inside the PS3). Never mind wear and tear on the drive...peanut butter and jelly blurays are very bad for the PS3.

Hey guys, Im trying to follow this guide although it was at a different site. I am having trouble, I am using a different region than the guide is using and think the file paths may be a bit different. Please let me know if im on the right track here.

Im only replacing two files right?

The eboot.bin replaces the one already there regardless of the exact file path, I replace the one already in the game folder, correct?

Then I extract the .sfo file edit it to 3.40 and replace the old one in the game folder. Correct?

I mean, step one and step four are talking about the same file right? If not Im not seeing a sfo.pram file to edit, im assuming it means the pram.sfo discussed in step one, just the replacing is talked about in four?

These are the only two files I replace?

THanks

Chbunch

Yes you only replace 2 files! However you don't need to do this anymore. I spent hours messing around with eboots, pram.sfo, hex editors, etc. Only to find out 2 days later that the 3.50 spoofing came out, which tricks you PS3 into thinking its on 3.50 so there is no need to change eboots, pram.sfo, etc. What jailbreak are you using? Have you updated your HEX to the new 3.50 spoofing?

Ok, well that will make it easier, I thought that to be the case, but Im getting a black screen when trying to play black ops. I am using ps3yes with thier latest hex witch includes the 3.5 spoofing. I also have the latest open manager and gaia manager. So what exactly do I need to do? I have tried but it is just black screen. It asks if I want to fix the eboot.bin on first load, what should get this game rolling? THanks

No, when I load it asked to edit pram.sfo. I edited so much game files that I went ahead and deleted the game and re ripped it. So are you saying that I still need to replace the eboot.bin file with the one included in the pack metioned in this thread? Do I need to edit pram.sfo when asked?

THanks for you help

What BLUS Version are you using? If it's 01031 the above tutorial did not work for me either I got the black screen.

Step 1
Copy Game to HDD.

Step 2
Download pack http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RFJ4NUNH

Step 3
FTP into /dev_hdd0/game/LAUN12345/GAMEZ/BLES01031/PS3_GAME
download param.sfo
Open PS3SFOEdit (included In pack), Load Param.sfo
"Advanced Edit " Then change PS3_SYSTEM_VERSION form 03.5000 to 03.4000 save and FTP and replace back to original location.

step 4

Title ID - BLUS30591: http://b0.ww.np.dl.playstation.net/t...2-V0100-PE.pkg

Title ID - BLES01035: http://b0.ww.np.dl.playstation.net/t...2-V0100-PE.pkg

Title ID - BLES01032: http://b0.ww.np.dl.playstation.net/t...2-V0100-PE.pkg

Title ID - BLES01033: http://b0.ww.np.dl.playstation.net/t...2-V0100-PE.pkg

Title ID - BLES01031: http://b0.ww.np.dl.playstation.net/t...2-V0100-PE.pkg

Title ID - BLES01034: http://b0.ww.np.dl.playstation.net/t...2-V0100-PE.pkg

Downloaded game update for your region and place it on a USB stick. Instal via "Install Package Files" If you get the message "An error occured during install operation 80029567"
Update your payload the latest at the time of writing is V4b.

Step 5
In FTP u[load the Eboot file in Download pack and replace the Eboot file in
/dev_hdd0/game/LAUN12345/GAMEZ/BLES01031/PS3_GAME/USRDIR
Also replace in
/dev_hdd0/game/BLES01031/USRDIR

Step 6

FTP into /dev_hdd0/game/BLES01031
download param.sfo
Open PS3SFOEdit (included In pack), Load Param.sfo
"Advanced Edit " Then change PS3_SYSTEM_VERSION form 03.5000 to 03.4000 save and FTP and replace back to original location.

Step 7
by hunter128
After you install the pkg launch a FTP server and go to /dev_hdd0/mms/db/ and search a file called metadata_db_hdd open it in a hex editor and search 3.50, and change to 3.41

My version is BLUS30591, so this guide should work for me? (using appropriate directory and game update of course.)

This is pretty close I believe to what I have already done, I will try this step by step though asap. THanks,
