Hello all,

Sorry if this has been discussed before. I did a search but found nothing. I have a PS3 that I did a laser replacement on, it had a YLOD problem but I reflowed and brought it back, but it needed the new laser. Afterward, it can play back DVDs and BDs, both original and backups, but it has issues when reaching the layer break on the dual-layer discs.

The video stutters and stops, then speeds up and tries to catch up with the playback. Then it freezes again. Disc make and burn speed have no effect either way. If I speed ahead a couple minutes (past the layer jump), the video will play fine to the end.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? Is there a way to re-calibrate or adjust the laser? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like your disk drive has a catch in the head track or a rough spot on the worm gear.
