I have been debating whether to get a ps3 just yet or to wait for either a ps4 or this new cloud computing onlive. Is it worht spending the money when the console only has a year or 2 life left?

the PS2 had a 10 year life span, it didnt mean that sony was going to wait 10 years to release the PS3. Anyway i see sony releasing the PS4 around 2012-13

Correction the PS2 is coming up to it's 10th year life span and is still going to be supported! The PS3 didn't hit until the PS2's 7th year or so and if that is any indicator that MAY mean that the PS4 would be out around 2012-2013 (just as you guess), though I believe they may wait a bit longer 1-2 years max unless they want to release when the NeXbox releases...but we shall see though!

ah, i knew i shouldve edited and put has. anyway now that i think about it more Sony and MS have both stated they will not release there new gaming systems anytime soon, so i believe they may be announced 12-13 and may be released around 14-15

While the 360 is constantly pushing its technical limits, the PS3 is nowhere near its limits. We know that it can handle 3D bluray and 3D 1080P (that is at least twice 1080P). The only technical limit that seems to be hindering potential development is the tiny amount of RAM...and good programers can get around this with ease.
They say we are in the 7th generation of systems...the 360 is clearly a 7th gen console, and the Wii is more of a late-6th gen console, but the PS3 is a 7.5-8th gen console...so it will probably be a while before we see the PS4...and when we do, it will probably be very expensive the first year, like the PS3 was.
If you want to wait, then you will probably be waiting at least 3 years...way longer than I would want to wait.

Yes in theory ps3 has more life left but with the new wii scheduled to come out soon, sony will get too edgy and bang the ps4 out near the same time so they are ahead of the pack still. If only they spend all their time on their own console instead of the competition maybe we wouldnt have to keep buying new consoles as much!

Where do you get this information that Nen is about to put out a new console, Sony will release at the same time and Sony is trying to keep up with the other consoles in tech or whatever. I would suggest that you quit visiting these misinformed sites or people.

I've also heard that nintendo are releaseing a new Wii console which will have a bluray drive, and as bluray has won the media war a new xbox with a bluray drive as well, but when idk, maybe later this year.
