My PS3 has been overheating ever since I replaced the blu ray, even after I took out the blu ray and just tried running stuff off the hard drive or surfing the web. Does anyone have any solutions for this?
it shouldnt over heat from just swapping out blu ray drives,so id check if you did anything else like unplug the fan or mess up the thermal paste.the question is did you take anything else apart? or just take the cover off?
Sorry that I didn't get back earlier, I had a freakishly much more busy week than anticipated, during which time I didn't get to come online as much as I would have liked. However, it was overheating after about 10 minutes, I found a piece from the top plate that says Playstation 3 wedged into the fan. The guy who had it before me when he was placing it back together to demo to me that it did indeed work must have dropped the piece under the motherboard and it worked its way into the fan.
