I has opened up my ps3 some time ago and for some time now I am playing ps2 games, via swaping. Every time I wait for the disk to stop spinning. Nevertheless, dust seems to have worked its tricks on my lazur!
When I open the ps3 with a ps3 game in it, I see the following:
a)A blue laser tries to focus for a little and then vanishes.
b)Then a red laser tries to focus and the ps3 game starts spinning.
c)Then the red laser fails to focus and the ps3 game stops spinning.
d) GOTO b)
Last time this happened, I cleaned the laser with a dry qtip. Now I am at it again, but it seems to be taking quite some time and still idk if it'll work again.
These ordeals and other observations have led me to the conclusion that the blue laser is for reading ps3 games and the red for ps2 ones. The blue laser tries to read a bluray and if it fails(be it from dust or the disk not being bluray, ps3 assumes the latter) it tries to read with red laser.
Anyway, I think I gotta clean the laser better. Is there any lens cleaner that I could use? Keep in mind, I live in Greece, so it has to be a pretty common 1. Is my contact lens cleaner any good for this?
Lens cleaner should not damage it, but I am not sure it will do the job. Last time I cleaned a laser it was a DVD (red) laser...I used a q-tip soaked in Windex to get it wet, then used several q-tips in a row to "wipe" off the excess. I finished with a qtip soaked with distilled water...and let that evaporate by itself.
