hey all , Have to bug ya with a problem been working on for a week . 40 GB CECH01 model , When I press power no power lights show , The hard drive light in lower left of system shows yellow for a second , I have a fan spin up then system beeps 3 times . I have been going through the common issues , all I find is yellow light of death FOR THE POWER . I have no power lights at all but the unit DOES have power , I press eject and the system beeps at me .
Im of course starting to look into sending to sony but I wanted to ask at least once on here . SO far a lot of the searching is for other issues or similar .

Most likely a faulty power supply, also do you get any picture?
And have you or anyone else (previous owner) opened it? the little LED lights that turn red and green On and red on standby can be damaged easily or are not receiving power from the power supply (torn/damaged cables connection). Check for damage to the cables connected to the front control panel ( eject & power on) if it is not damaged then maybe its the power supply ($40-60), if not and if the system is used and opened/handled and doesn't show any picture then it may have overheating issues which damaged its internals in that case Sony's your best bet.
If it's out of warranty I would suggest taking it to a company I found called PS Pro's. They gave me a while you wait repair service and fixed my YLOD on my first PS3, giving me a 3 month warranty as well.
I am in the UK, but they are an American company if you live over there?
