HI guys, loving the dongle. lol (that sounds so wrong)

I got a PS3break and have been enjoying it. here is a few thoughts.

the Backup Manager could use a redesign, maybe 2 columns one for cd in tray
and another for game image already done. or location and location.

Perhaps maybe a hdd icon next to the image and a dvd icon next to the disc.
it would help to avoid confusion.

Also maybe there can be a project which will allow users to enter dev mode to access cheats and such, nearly in dev mode already.

on a diff note, it would be nice to use this to copy my Swapmagic disc to int hdd and then be able to launch PS2 games via ext drive using usbloader!

also not sure but is there a function that will allow us to copy games from int to ext or vicea versa?

thanks for your time.

You CAN transfer games, files, etc. from external to internal, external to flash drive, flash to internal, every which way, all. Use the PS3 file manager by Comgenie?s to achieve this. You can copy, rename, delete, move, create files or directory to where ever you please.

If you're familiar with the PS2 scene, this works exactly like uLaunch (minus the ability to launch apps/elf's). Your internal will ALWAYS be HDD0, and the external may come up as USB0 or USB1.

well thanks for that but I ment in the program itself. I use ulaunch with my usbloader.

be nice if it was incorporated into the backup mgr program is what I ment.

I see. If that was the case, I think there would be complications and/or interference between one feature to another. Otherwise HDLoader, HDAdvance, USBeXtreme, and USBAdvance for the PS2, would've had similar features built-in into it. From what I understand, each feature (game launching, file transfer, cheat, etc.) operates in different mode and each mode does not or can not co-exist with the other, being on. However with the PS3 being a much more sophisticated system, there may be work-arounds. A while ago (and for a long time), this was an issue brought up many times in the PS2 scene too. Unfortunately, it never happened.

There has been a newly release open source back up manager that I think does internal to external transfers like you said above. I will give it a try later, you can get it from here.

Open Manager v1.0 Features:

-Supports up to 512 items from two USB devices, internal hdd and blu-ray.

-Ability to copy games from bdvd to hdd0 or USB?s, from hdd0 to USB?s or from USB?s to hdd0. It is done asking to you the destination device. It use uses asynchronous reading and writing for fast copy.

-Special support for big files in FAT: it splits files >= 4GB using .666xx fragments (if the file is name.ext, the file splits as name.ext.66600, name.ext.66601,?). This file is not bootable and it is marked using ?_? as folder prefix. The file is joining when you copy it to hdd0 device.

-Automatically finds the path of the games and asks to you about it. In other case, if the Open Manager is installed in the hdd0 creates one. You can change it pressing L2+START later.

-Including checking game option (pressing L1). It displays information about the files, size, splits or big files, if it have one.

-Support for Homebrew: you can creates ?homebrew? folder in root USB FAT device and put here others folders with an EBOOT.BIN (.self format) and one ICON0.PNG. Also you can use the internal hdd0. Homebrew is launched directly and receive the path in argv[0].

-FTP support to upload homebrew: open_manager uses ?OMAN46756″ as user, by default. I recommend flashfxp to use it, because FTP support is not very good?
Notes:

Open Manager works with Hermes payload update. So,if you return from game list, apps_home can launch gamaes without one disc (some games don?t work without any disc), but if you return from Homebrew, apps_home works from usb000.
You can modify the program as you want, but please, make public the source code.

Yes you are very correct, I visted site before coming here and saw that they made the functions I asked for. transfer from inter to ext hdd. sweet.

Now we just need someone to make a cheat exploit and I will be very happy!
oh and for them to finally get the upgrade for my long fixed.
but they are working on it, so soon.

I have a thread started about the game eboot.bin not valid error, wish someone could help, now have 3 games like that.

Hey just tried the new Open Manager, it is a whole lot better, they did what I asked
the menu will show what is hdd and what is usb and what is dvd.
And in alphabetical order! sweet.

plus the GUI is better laid out too. not crazy about
the florescent colors but, eh it works thats whats important.

This will make transfers to storage media's a whole lot faster.

Thumbs up Developers!

pssst. can you guys make the file size appear for each game, it would help judge
how much space to calculate. and maybe a edit for the game title.
and the color for the drive selected should be yellow , both boxes are blue, not much a diff to indicate selected.

Thx.
