I have a new PS3 with 3.40 firmware.
I plan to eventually get an external drive and jailbreak my system.
For now, I'm more than happy playing the games I currently have though.

I do want to start using my Netflix on my PS3.
It looks like I would need to create a PSN account, and download the Netflix "client."
Is there anything that could possibly cause me problems by doing this?
I really have no need for PSN, as I don't enjoy playing games online.
I would likely just be signing up solely for the purpose of getting Netflix up and running.

Anyone have any insight into this?

If you are jailbreaking, then upgrade to KMEAW CFW 3.55; this should allow you to access the PSN to get the app if you use the proxy hack and if you hurry (they will turn off the proxy hack soon).

...and the upgrade to Kmeaw won't just be for NetFlix; it will also allow some of the newer titles to work, and it will let you start the system using the PS button on the controller again...no more off, on, power, eject.
