I already have a topic somewhat relevant to this but I decided to post a new one because I have a lot to say.
First off, I just want to say that PlaystationNetwork has gotten to the point where I am on the verge of swapping over to XboxLive in the very near future. A few days ago I tried signing into PSN and it said "You cannot use this PlaystationNetwork Account (8002A231)." I tried calling $ony and talking to them, only to be put on hold for a good 30 minutes and then they only tell me that they do not have access to the servers right now.. I was told to expect a call from them within the next 48 hours, only to be let down there too.
So I emailed the support team at us.playstation.com. I received a confirmation email that they received my complaint and would reply within the next 48 hours.. 48 hours later, I receive an email containing the following:
Quote: -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PlayStation(R)Network
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sign-in ID: ceyupe@gmail.com
Reason: Offensive OnlineID
Location: PlayStation(R)Home
This email confirms that your account on the PlayStation(R)Network
has been banned for violation of the Terms of Service and User
Agreement.
Continued violation of the Terms of Service and User Agreement,
including the Community Code of Conduct may result in the banning
of your game console from any use on the PlayStation(R)Network.

They claim to have banned me for an "offensive" name. Now let me say, I have had the name Ce_Yu_Pe on EVERY console I have ever owned and it has never been called "offensive" before. I have played countless hours on Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty 5 as well as many other games. And nobody has ever call this name "offensive" before. I have received no complaints/warnings before to change my name.
As you see, the location was PlaystationHome.. I never get on there because it's just not for me. There's nothing to do on there and I never take part in it. I try to log on there 1 time just to see how it's coming. I was on PlaystationHome for about 10 minutes and then I cut my system off. I log back on a few days later and realize that I am banned.. Now believe me, I have seen FAR WORSE names than mine. And I know anybody else has too. I think it is horrible that they ban me from using this name as I have had this PSN for almost TWO YEARS now and they have said nothing of it until now..
I informed $ony of this and if actions are not taken to unban my account immediately or at least work out a deal with me, then I will be more than happy to switch over to XboxLive with all my other good buddies and leave $ony and their little toy with them.. Sorry for the long message but I had to put my two sense in as this is complete nonsense.

...two cents, not two sense. Just sayin'.
Also, Sony's well-known for their generous and helpful customer service. The $150 fee to send in your PS3 actually isn't a fee, but a donation. To a charity. That helps bring babies back from the dead.
No, but seriously, what a load of crock on their part.

Yeah I know.. I even emailed them again telling them how much BS this was. And they kindly reply with this email:
Quote: Hello [name removed],
We apologize for the inconvenience that this ban has caused you.
PlayStation(R)Network account holders should receive an email within 48 hours of the ban detailing the reasons for this action.

Basically they're just saying F*** You, read our stupid rules and be happy with them..
But luckily I'm getting a XBox 360 next week so I won't have to put up with this crap.
Haha. But I did manage to make a new name so I can play while I wait on my 360.. And,imagine that, my new name is Xx_CeYuPe :)

Your friend is honest and thinks she plays AC2 on a PS3. In reality she is playing AC1 on a PS2.

Its not that big of a deal no offense. I dont think Sony is gonna cry over you switching to xbl. Its not hat hard to make a new account with a new name (obviously you did it already)so I dont see what the fuss is about.
PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

Usually M$ warns you beforew banning you, asking you to change your gamertag. My cousin had whitedeath6969, he's white. He just had that because when he was younger he used to smoke alot of weed(if anyone from UK smokes weed they'll know what a white death is). Anyway, M$ are alright about it.
Try searching, its fun.

Is that your main account for DLC? If it is, then i bet it sucks even more and you should pester them to review or reconsider your ban.
From what I am inferring from this and the recent controversies with their commercials it seems Sony is unaware of any culture beyond that of the US and Japan. Because Ce_yu_pe sounds vietnamese/chinese to me. What does it mean BTW? If it is really not offensive in that language, what did the basis of the ban for? Having an Asian sounding name? Thats discrimination.

Its more about who you run into than what you do really.

Actually, from what I figure, they only take action when someone reports the name as offensive, like my friend on xboxlive had a name with fob in it and been using it for a year, only to get an instant ban saying offensive name with no prior warning whatsoever...
Now think about it, if it was offensive and against TOS, they woulda caught it within like 2 weeks, i mean its a common racial thing and not hard to make an algorithm to search for it, so either they dont have such a system in place or dont care or only ban on request of other users who feel offended by such name and thereby telling whichever company in charge to do something since it does in a way violate TOS when someone does get offended

Actually I had no meaning by the name Ce_Yu_Pe. A long time ago, back in the PSP days, me and some buddies were sitting around trying make up Chinese sounding names for a clan we were coming up with on Socom. And my name on there was Ce_Yu_Pe. And ever since that night, my name has been Ce_Yu_Pe on EVERYTHING. Every website, every gaming account, everything. To my knowledge, Ce_Yu_Pe means absolutely nothing in any language. I'm not AS mad about the fact that my name got banned, I'm mad that they can't provide a good enough reason to have banned me.. I mean, just because some 40 year old douche bag sits around and plays PlayStation Home and decides to report my name as offensive, that's not a good enough reason to just ban me without warning. I'm going to play Call of Duty online tomorrow and every name I see that I find the least bit attractive to me, I'm going to report it as offensive.

Next they will ban me, Live4Lotus, because of the possible drug reference (even though I was refering to the car company).

You can do the same thing with stickers & a PS3. That combo seems to be a terrible deal...it does not include the one thing you need for a Call of Duty game...the mouse.

Wow, that sucks. They actually ban your entire account. On LIVE they don't ban your account, they just won't let you sign on until you choose a new name. For the longest time I was Kaymen Hureye, then one day they made me change it (it's now Myfarts Kill). I don't think it's actually Sony or MS who see's your tag, I think it other gamers who report it as offensive.

Or for any first-person shooter, for that matter.
I can barely get a 2:1 kill/death ratio, if that, with the PS3 controller. I can easily rock out with a keyboard/mouse combo. It makes playing the game so much easier.
But back on topic: CeYuPe, what's the latest on the PSN thing? You got the new 360 yet?
