Is there a way to play ps1 games at full screen instead of having the black bars on the side?

You could set the PS3's PS1/PS2 upscaler to Fullscreen (or Widescreen, I forget). It'd stretch the image, but it'd at least get rid of the borders.

That said, I doubt there are any PS1 games that have the option of outputting in widescreen. HDTVs didn't get all that big until the PS2/Xbox eras, and even then there weren't many games that could output a widescreen image. (The Ace Combats, God of War, maybe GT4... and a few others, but certainly not a majority of the PS2 games.)

No you can't. I have my upscaler set to full screen and I still get bars on the sides.

With a 4:3 aspect ratio and lack of definition, its gona be stretched and look like poop at full screen.

If you want the game to look the way it was meant to be seen you need to keep those black bars. Games of that generation were made for tube tvs. if you dont mind then your tv should have an option to stretch the image.

By the way, if you're playing a ps1 classics game will your friends see the title and their list when they look at your profile?
