1. I've heard that it is currently impossible to get online with the jailbreak due to the firmware upgrade but people are making things like the stealth loader and trophy apps that are obviously made for online gaming. Is there currently any way around getting online without having to upgrade your firmware?

2. Is sony even capable of banning consoles? I mean they obviously weren't planning on having to ban consoles at this point. If all they can do is ban your gamertag then big whoop, its free isn't it?

just a couple of things I was wondering about before deciding if its worth buying a ps3...

Let me say PS3 was worth it before tba hack..

Right now you may be able to trick the system into going online but it will be a never ending cat and mouse game. One thing you have to accept is no matter what system, if you play unauthorized games online, there's a good chance you will be banned eventually.

It's not a user ban, its a console ban.. every system has a unique id and that's what will be blocked.

1.) Not possible right now AFAIK.
2.) They have banned both PSN users and consoles in the past; even before the jailbreak existed. It is questionable if they will be able to detect the jailbreak once there is an online-capable jailbreak...but it is likely that there will at least be a few differences to detect; even if it is something small, like the system responding a little too smoothly.

is this new hack something that makes a change on your system that Sony could find if you were to send it in for repairs? With xbox they could tell if you had ever soft modded your xbox so they could ban you without having to worry about proof of breaking their rules...
