I have a region 4 ps3 from Australia and it wont play region 2 games?? Brought it back with me end of last year and only just got it out of the box to start playing with it again. My games work fine that i got in Australia but the one game i bought PES 2009 wont work. Its a 40GB version, PAL. Its connected via HDMI to a Panasonic LCD tv which is a uk model. I was under the impression all games are region free? is it just a case of altering a setting??
Blu-ray doesn't follow the same region coding as DVDs do. For Blu-ray, the region codes are:
Region A: most North, Central and South American and Southeast Asian countries plus Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea.
Region B: most European, African and southwest Asian countries plus Australia and New Zealand.
Region C: the remaining central and south Asian countries, as well as China and Russia.
Moreover, I believe it's up to the developers to decide whether or not to include region codes. But as you can see, Australia and Europe are both under the same region classification, so even if it did have a region code, that wouldn't be the problem. Since you're able to play your PS3 on the TV, I doubt that it's a difference between those two, either.
When you say "won't work," what do you mean? Is it not being recognized? Is it going straight to a black screen when you start it? Does the game glitch out and freeze? etc.
All i get is the disk in the right corner of the screen like its liading but then nothing happens? When i go to game irs not there?? Ir may be the game itself?? I guess i should try another??
Well im getting totally confused as to whether or not games are region free or not?
Iv been in the local game shop today and all three blokes in there said games are region coded so it wont play games from the uk? They said i could get it chipped?? Iv found no mention of chipping the ps3 on any forum, most people seem to say games are region free????
