is there any way to "edit" or "hack" a ps1 save file on the ps3 while being able to resume the game from that specific file on the ps3 after the edit? pretty much without the ps3 saying that its curupted.

Hack how? Hex-edit?

You'll need a PS1 memory card to do so. What you have to do is copy the gamesave to a USB drive, put that into your computer, use a program to convert it from .psv to something like .mcr (I haven't done this in a long time, and I remember saying I'd put up a tutorial sometime but never got to it), and then use whatever hex-editing program you want to edit the gamesave.

After that, you have to put it back onto a PS1 memory card. To do this, you need a PS1/2 memory card adapter and a driver so that Windows recognizes it. (It'll show up as just a USB Device otherwise.) I forgot how to get that driver, but I'll see if I can wrangle it up for you.

Then there's this Japanese-language memory card manager that you can use to insert your gamesave into the PS1 memory card.

Obviously, this takes a whole bunch of time and might not even be possible anymore - since I can't find either the driver for the memory card adapter or the Japanese program - so your best bet is to contact somebody who has a PS1/2-era Gameshark who can convert the gamesave for you.

But yeah, the only way you'll be able to edit the gamesave is by converting it to some format other than .psv and THEN editing it.
