Hi,
I am looking for a steering wheel / throttle etc addon for my PS3. This also needs to be compatible with my PC as I play driving games on both of them.
Can you recommend any good ones?
Are there any that are wireless?
Do you need a table for most of them? This isn't a problem on my PC but I only have a sofa to play my PS3 at..
My budget is around £50 to £100.
Thanks

If you want a to read a little bit more info on a chassis/wheel you can skim through my GT5Prologue Wheel & Chassis thread but for the most part I could help answer your questions here.
Quote: Can you recommend any good ones? Are there any that are wireless?
There are a couple I could suggest ~
USB Wired
Logitech G25 6 Speed/Sequential & Clutch Capable ~ PS3/PC
Logitech G27 6 Speed/Sequential & Clutch Capable ~ PS3/PC
Logitech Driving Force GT Sequential ONLY ~ PS3/PC
Wireless (or at least partly)
Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo Wheels 6 Speed/Sequential & Clutch Capable ~ PS3/PC OR Xbox360 alone (though I read that they MIGHT be the first to do all 3 but there is no confirmation of this I found)
I personally like/prefer the Logitech products because they are a larger more well know company known for well made products. But to be more specific I even prefer the older G25 over the new G27 because of the ability to still use the Stick shift in Sequential mode. Additional drawbacks to the G27 is that it makes a funny/excessive/distracting noise when the Force Feed Back kicks in...though it does have upgrades over the G25 like more buttons on the wheel face and a helical gear set vs the older straight cut for the turning mechanism inside.

You don't need a table, though a table or chassis is highly suggested. There are products like the RennSport Wheel Stand or similar products that will "do the job".

This is where the problem for you really kicks in as it limits your choices. If that is the boundaries within your budget then I would suggest the Logitech Driving Force GT or if you are lucky to find a G25 on sale (since the new G27 is coming out) then I would definitely suggest the latter.

I have found the Logitech G25 for £120 which I will stretch to.
Do I have to have the stand with it to make it usable tho as this will have to wait till another month. Will it work ok sat on my lap or will it be too movable?
Is the stand you show pictures of compatible with the G25?

I would definitely say to you if you could "stretch" to £120 for the G25 then definitely do it, you will not be disappointed! As far as using it on your lap...it will be nothing but aggravation because it will move around too much because of the Force Feed Back alone (which is a good thing as it shows how strong it is) and because of the action of turning the wheel itself.
So I would suggest using it on your PC for now until you get a stand/chassis or something for the PS3 to make the experience "proper". OR you could (for the time being) use the PS3 on your PC monitor for now (if it has a DVI input that is).

Many of the older USB PC wheels will work with GT5P, and should also work with GT5. You can pick up one of the old Logitech Momo wheels used for under $40 USD...no clutch/6speed, but they did have sequential shifters. Then you just need a cheap table (take a walk on trash day, you should be able to find something that will do the job). If you can't find anything suitable in the trash, you could always go to the hardware store, buy a few 2" x 4" boards (?or 38mm x 89mm?) and make something up yourself...you don't need a whole table, just a small piece of the edge of one.

Ok, so went and got a logitech G25 and all i can say is oh my god. How good is this!!!
I have Need for Speed Shift and am playing this on my pc. It took a bit of getting the setup right but now I am so chuffed I want more driving racing and simulator games.
Can anyone recommend any. Ones I have considered are:-
1. Euro Truck Simulator
2. Colin McRae Dirt
What are the latest and greatest racing games?
Also what are the best simulators (non racing like the truck one above)
Thanks and look forward to your replies.

That G25 is friggin' sweet...I'll be getting the G27 version for GT5 once it comes out.
Trackmania is an older game, but it is still a lot of fun, and the multiplayer still has lots of people on it. There are two versions of it, and one of them is a free download...so it's at least worth a try.

KillerBug you might want to check out a few more reviews on the G27 before spending the extra money on one. It seems it's not really worth the additional cost for the "upgrades" it has over the G25...if anything they come off as a slight downgrade :(

Does the RennSport Wheel Stand fit the Logitech G25 wheel ok?
Can you mount the gear stick on the left hand side?
Are there any other acceptable stands around?
Thanks
