Hey guys,
I've just performed the reflow process on my yloded ps3 and not reassembled yet since i realized that one of the thermal pads were missing. I'm missing one of the small black thermal pads (think there's supposed to be 5 in total, I have 4). Are these thermal pads really necessary or can I do without one of them? Also, where do I purchase the pads, I've checked everywhere and there is no thermal pads. ALSO, Do I have to apply the new thermal paste RIGHT after i reflow or can I do it whenever I get the time after I've reflowed?

The pads are necessary. I don't know where you can get them, but I do know that replacing the stock cooler/pad assemblies with heatsinks attached by arctic silver adhesive made my system work better than it did with the pads.

As for the thermal paste, this MUST be installed before starting the system...you can wait as long as you want after the reflow...so long as you don't start the system untill you have the thermal paste installed.

Alright thanks, I already reflowed it and found the missing thermal pad. :)
When reassembling i noticed that
those things don't have a thermal pad (I don't think so). But in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGIE77M8zu4#t=1m3s he reattaches the heat pads to those but I don't think mine has those heat pads. I have a 60gb launch ps3.
