hi, i need some help, i have download i believe the latest ubuntu operating system but the screen goes black (3 hours) and nothing happens. I think I may have downloaded the wrong software for my PS3 which has the old 40 GB hard drive. please give me some advice on:

1) which is the latest ubuntu software available for my 40gb ps3????????
2) Which website can i download it from??????????????
3) and do i need an antivirus on the ps3 once the operating system is installed?????????[/color]
1.) Any version of Ubuntu will work. It takes a good bit of tech knowledge to get it to work properly, though. (And a USB mouse/keyboard.)
2.) The official Ubuntu website, torrent sites, third-party sites (though I wouldn't trust those). I'd use either mirrors from the official Ubuntu site or BitTorrent (BT tends to be faster for me).
3.) If you're talking about antiviruses for Ubuntu/Linux, then the general consensus is no. It's not as popular as Windows and its security is much tighter, so there are scarcely any viruses/trojans/etc. that target it. (It's similar to OSX.)
If you're talking about antiviruses for the PS3 side, you won't even have an option (save for maybe the Internet Browser security software) because... well, there's no need.

basically i think what the problem MIGHT be is that im trying to install it on a standard definition tv which causes problems, for eg I tryed to install yellow dog 6.2 with 480i setting on SD TV, I got all the way to the end but had problems with logging in( difficult interface), on the 720p or above the user interface was alot easier and modern.
with the ubuntu 9.04 I transfered the iso image on to a new CD and DVD however when i press enter when its at kboot: neither seem to work, numbers come up and the screen switches to a black screen.
Any help please, its stressing me out, i went o sleep today at 7am trying to get it to work with no look
I will try it later with my HD TV but I want to keep the PS3 in my bedroom with my SD TV.
IS THERE A WAY OF INSTALLING AN OPERATING SYSTEM ON PS3 WHICH CAN BE USED ON A STANDARD DEFINITION TV????????????????????? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
