Upgrade from 3.15 to 3.40?

I was wondering if there is any reason to still hold on to firmware 3.15

I havent upgraded in forever, and since the jailbreak recently came out and it only works for 3.40, I was wondering if there was any reason to keep my 3.15?

I only want to upgrade for the use of homebrew (i dont support "back ups")
Mainly looking forward to a xbmc port or something of that sort and maybe some emulators.

Just wondering if there was any ground being made on a RSX driver or anything that would give me a reason to hold onto other os.

Well there have been some talks about the psgroove being able to support all firmwares below 3.42 very soon, so I think you should wait for a little while longer and see what develops. Especially if your at 3.15 to keep your OtherOS feature.
