First off, I want to preemptively thank any and all of you for your help.
I installed kmeaw CFW on my PS3 as well as Rogero 7.9b and Gaia Manager 2.4. I installed a backup from disc of Folklore (I own this game) and it was able to boot fine. I then saw the new Gaia 2.5. I deleted Gaia 2.4 and then installed Gaia 2.5. I next installed Resistance 1 (I own). After the installation of this disc, none of my backup images work. I tried booting both games from both Rogero and Gaia with Resistance 2 disc in the drive.
Any ideas what I did wrong?

Did you use the latest lvl2 pkg? Try running fix permissions pkg first, then run (latest v6 i think)lvl2 pkg then fire up through and rogero and let me know.

Not used Rogero, I use Gaia.
Did you use Rogero to backup the game or Gaia? I am guessing the installation folders may be different. So if you used Rogero to backup Gaia wont play them as it's looking in a different folder.
btw if you had Gaia 2.04 installed you did not have to delete it when you installed 2.05 You should be careful as, I am not sure it its still true with these latest version, but if you deleted the manager it deleted all the folders, including the folder with your backups. So if you do delete you may have to backup all your games again.
I just install the latest version and it overrides the previous version.

Ok. Finally got home and was able to try the system.
I have my Resistance 2 disc in the drive. Installed the lv2 (6) pkg to the system. Ran the lv2. Then I opened Gaia manager 2.5 and tried to run Folklore (installed to my internal). Still shows Resistance in the drive. I then opened Rogero 7.9b and tried to run Folklore. Still shows Resistance 2 in the drive. I installed mutilMAN 1.13. It found all the games just fine. Tried running both Folklore and Resistance 1. Still shows Resistance 2 in the drive.
You mention running the File Permissions pkg, but the only one that I can find fixes the LUAN folder, which I do not use.
And Biglo, I do not remember which I used for Folklore, thus my attempt to boot with both managers.

The fix permissions fixes it for all folders not just the LUAN folder. Give it a try and see what happens.

goyankees and biglo30, I give you both my thanks. There is so much competing information out there (and believe me, I read a lot) that it was hard to tell what was needed to be done.
I ran the file permissions, then the lv2, then loaded up multiMAN. Folklore showed up this time.
I guess when I deleted GAIA and installed the new version, something must have happened to the permissions. Live and learn I suppose.
Thank you both once again. Hopefully (fingers crossed) I am good to go now.

I just got the new GAIA yesterday, and it works really well...as long as you do not use the LVL2 app. It is hardcoded now; it even works with my system.
The LVL2 app is run before the permissions fix. Then the system is TURNED OFF. When you turn it back on, you can run GAIA without launching anything else first. It does seem to need a disk in the drive tho...if you select the hdd0/games icon, it gives you an error. Because of this, GAIA moves the bluray icon down the games list to come after the two jailbreak icons.

Ok, this is becoming very unfun.
After my success previously, I tried running the disc version of Pain. It downloaded some updates and tried to run, but all I got was black screen. The system rebooted. After this, I was under the impression that I would need to run the file permissions pkg again, which ran, and the lvl2 pkg which froze. Hard reset on the system. Tried it again. Saw the payload loaded on lvl2, then black screen freeze again. Hard reset. Now, my system boots up, but whenever I try to start multiman or GAIA, it black screen freezes on me.
This makes me a saaaaaaaaaad panda :(

Wow...where to begin...
Run whatever version of LVL2 froze on you, and let it finish running. Turn off the system, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on. Delete all the PS jailbreak-related apps you have, install lvl2 v6, the latest permissions app ( http://www.ps3hax.net/2011/01/kmeaw-lv2-v6-fix-permissions/#axzz1C72iKL00 ), and the latest GAIA ( http://www.ps3hax.net/2011/01/gaia-manager-v2-05-hardcoded-payload/#axzz1C7CKKebC ). Run the new lvl2 and let it finish...it can take a minute to complete the first time, and it will be a black screen while it is doing it. Then run the permissions app (always run LVL2 before the permissions app). After the permissions app finishes, turn off the system, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on. Insert a game disk (any game) in the drive, and run GAIA Manager. Select your game, and hopefully you will be set. If not, then you might need to reflash the firmware from recovery.

KillerBug - many thanks. Going through those steps seems to have worked for now until I screw something up again.
As a question, do I need to run the lvl2 app and/or the fix permissions app every time I turn on the system? Or do I run then whenever I install a new game? Or am I set for life?
Thank you again!

After installing a new game, you run the lvl2, then the permissions app, then do a full shutdown before starting GAIA again (obviously the game will start once installed; just close it and shut down).

Ok, time for me to throw even more wrenches in everything, and I apologize if I am being stupid.
Ran through the steps as KillerBug lists last night, and all was well. Booted up PAIN (disc version), and it took over an hour to install info, then froze on initialising network. Everything went to hell after this.
Ran KillerBug's steps again. lvl2 runs fine, but the permissions app freezes. Do the steps again. Same thing. Boot into recovery mode and reinstall kmeaw's firmware. Install the three programs. Freezes on the permissions app. Do the steps AGAIN. Now it freezes on the lvl2 app (let it run for over 5 minutes).
Did I completely screw over my system?

If I were in your spot, I would install OFW 3.55, wipe the hard drive using a PC, then start from scratch. The PS3 is really messy and unorganized with the files that are meant to be there; jailbreaking can cause all sorts of weird issues.

Yea i agree with KillerBug Stoney... Sorry to hear about your crazyness with your PS3. It does sound like your gonna have to just go back to OFW then kmeaw and wipe hard drive and let us know what happens. SOunds like files are conflicting because lvl2 and permissions shouldnt freeze up that many times consistently.
