okay im basicaly new to ps3 modding and have a few questions about ps3 modding and the ps3 key.
basicaly i want to know the modding posibilities of the ps3 and what can be done and what advantages and dissadvantages it would have to me e.g. play back ups but not go online play?
To put it a simple way NOW "It does Everything" :P Anyone can make another app for it and it will run.
As for online play, yes you can play online, but as with the xbox, sony will eventually find a way to tell you have cfw running and ban your console.
Best cfw to install is kmeaw, runs on all models and so far no reports of bricking. To play "backups" you need a backup manager and there are plenty to choose from.
Yes atm any console can be hacked with kmeaw's cfw, even the slims that are currently being sold.
You first need to install sony's official fw 3.55, then install kmeaws cfw, then install a backup manager, I use Gaia manager 2.04
Then you run the manager, insert game and copy. Some games still require a game disk in the drive, can be any game disk.
If you cannot find the files googles is spammed with results on hacking the ps3 now.
Uggghh...you don't want to deal with google on this; you will get 100,000,000 idiots that all have the wrong advise. Go over to ps3hax.net; it used to be haxnetwork.net, but they have essentially dedicated the entire site to PS3 hacking, and they are doing a great job of it.
