Hi i wos wondering if someone could help me out.
I sold my sons Ps3 80gb on ebay saying it was only 6 months old which it is. The guy that bought it is now saying there is data on it from January 2008.
How is that possible?
I thought maybe to do with preowned games but my son tells me the game saves to PS3 and not the game.
He also thinks it could be the original PS3 data as thats when the 80gb was released.
Can anyone give me a reasonable explanation

The timestamp is based on what time the clock said when the file was saved. If the clock had been set to 1979, then this guy would be complaining that you sold him a 30 year old PS3.

Most likely, the timestamp in question was from when you first set up the system, as it syncronizes the clock durring the initial updates.

Also from what i can see the 80gb ps3 was only released in uk in August 2008 is this correct

Yep 80gb console was release in august 2008 in europe. so like killer says if you reset it to factory setting it may have reset the date to the release date of the firmware. That or the default original setting may have the date set to januray 1st 2008 and you then have to set the correct date.
