Not sure whether there is an obvious answer to this or not but i sold my softmodded wii a couple of months ago and the buyer 'decided' to upgrade to 4.2e and has wiped the homebrew channel etc.

Can you simply re mod the console and if you can will it have any adverse affects?

you can remod but just dont expect all your homebrew apps to work.

HERE is a 4.2 softmod guide.

The only effect you might see on homebrew is applications that use DVDx. The new 4.2 firmware will look for the older Title ID of HBC and DVDx and will delete it from the system menu if it finds it. To get around this issue HBC and DVDx has been given a new Title ID. So the older applications will no longer be able to find DVDx because the older ID is no longer installed. So you will need to wait till the applications are updated to look for the new DVDx Title ID.
