I have searched this forum and google and cant find a answer to my quesiton. sorry if this question has already been answered.

I Recently bought a wii off craigslist with a disc read error when you insert a disc. My friend has a wii with a broken drive and he has the home-brew channel, 4.2u with usb loader installed... No issues works great.

The wii i bought has 4.3u installed on it when i bought it unfortunately.i only want to use this wii for homebrew and usb loader since the disc drive is not working...I noticed that in order to get the exploit to work with 4.3u you need to use one of the 3 games. Obviously that isnt going to work for me so what i am asking is if there is any alternate way to hack a 4.3u wii with a with a disc read error? i know there is a chance of it not working in the end but i think its worth a try before i throw it on ebay?
thanks

hi,

ive read your post and you dont have many options but heres what you can do.
First of all disk drives errors are caused by three things: dust, faulty drive, and last wear and tear along with malfunctioning code [ how long theyve had it for and used it]. Depending on what type of drive it is you can borrow a friends wii and swap drives. You are going to need to open up both wiis though and swap the drives. There are online tutorials to open up the wiis. This is the only way to do it.

Once the drives are swap use the 3 games mentioned to get homebrew on your wii. Indiana etc. After that follow with custom usb loader and everything should work.

Now you say my friend doesnt have a wii or the wii drives dont match. Thats fine, you never know if a wiis drive is faulty till you try to clean the lens yourself. 5 out of 10 times it works and you can read a game. Open up the wii and get to the drive itself. It is connected by 4 screws holding it to the motherboard. Once you unscrew it release the two latches and turn the wii drive on the bottom side. Unscrew 6 screws or 8 holding the bottom and top metal bracings together [the drive case]. Inside is a lens and slider. Clean the lens using solution or lens cleaner. Ive sometimes used rubbing alcohol and it works. After that put everything back together.

LOL ita
