I have my Wii modded with a chip (Drivekey.com.au I believe) and have started to back my disks up, all of which work aside from New Super Mario Bors.Wii - I have tried 3 times, checked each dump (using RawDump v2) and they are all fine. But when I put the New Super Mario Bors.Wii backed up game in I can't seem to get past the start up screen. I select 'Super Mario Bros.Wii' START, it thinks for a while, Mario runs about on the screen for a few seconds then I am back at the main menu.

My main concern after reading through some of these forums in the poss.b. of my Wii being Bricked.

I have disabled wireless internet connection on the console so it can not be updated (am running 4.2E) but I am worried that if I put my original disk in, it will update the firmware and brick my wii.

Can someone please advise of the scenario's in my situation where my Wii could be bricked (what not to do I guess) and possibly a way to avoid if happening if I am tempted to do 'what not to do' lol... can I put software on (without softmodding-not sure I am confortable I know enough about softmod) to prevent the disk triggered updates?

Any help would be great as I am ver new to all this :)

1) NS Mario Bros - you have to patch the iso if you are going to try and run it as a backup - new piracy protection. Google will help.

Updates are optional, it will ask you to do the update. There is no issue using wireless or new discs - if prompted in the future say NO to the update.

You can look at softmodding, as part of the process you add a program called preloader - this has the ability to prevent system updates. However bricking a wii that is running a modchip is very hard!

Hi and thanks so much for your response. I have spent hours upon hours trying to google this and can only come up with how to patch the file through homebrew - which I can't do as I have not got it softmodded.... I did come across one thread where there was a link to a .exe file where you can drag and drop your .iso and it patches then you burn but the .exe had been removed from the link. I don't suppose you know of a link where I can download this .exe prog? IF you think this is what I need of course :) thanks for your help :)

Sorry but putting in liks to that sort of file is not allowed.

There are several places offering the patched iso, unpatched iso and auto patcher
