Hello,

I was wondering, as the title says, if there are any dangers to taking a modded wii online. I followed larry's guide for softmodding my wii to the letter. (4.2) I also have cIosCorp installed. I think I read somewhere a while back that Nintendo auto-updating your system may brick it if it has homebrew installed.

More specifically, I want to play Monster Hunter Tri online shortly. Prior to this I've been offline. I plan to buy the game but don't want to do it if it has any chance of bricking my wii through wi-fi.

Thanks in advance.

NOTHING wrong with it being online. i've had wiiconnect24 on since purchase, and it's always been the version i chose it to be.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Thanks for the answers. Just one more small question. When I activate my internet the Wii still asks me for a system update; I don't know what it's for since I already have 4.2U. If I leave the internet on will it auto-update the system, and does that have any chance of bricking it. Right now I delete my internet settings after playing online due to paranoia...

Thanks in advance.

Check your firmware by going into wii settings & it'll be written on the top right corner of your screen. If it is a 4.2 it's probably some needless update, don't accept it if you can help it. If you want to accept it, install a hacked save file such as Indiana Pwns, so if it bricks, you have a homebrew exploit to unbrick from.

im on 4.1 and it does not try to update my wii unless i put certain dvd roms in disc channel that want 4.2.
turn wiiconnect24 off and see if you get the same results, do all the other on-line stuff work ok other than games, wii shop etc...
