As my son has grown old enough to start messing with my discs but isn't old enough to understand why it's a problem, I've decided to make backups of my games.
I've been reading a lot of different guides now, and have a good understanding of what I'm going to do. One question I have though, that I'm unable to find a good answer to is whether I should upgrade my system version to 4.2E (From 4.0E).
Some guides say we shouldt upgrade to 4.2, but without saying why it is a problem. Is it because these guides are outdated? It seems softmodding a 4.2 is no problem at all from the 4.2 guides I've seen.
My thinking is that if I upgrade to 4.2 before modding, there will be no accidental upgrades to 4.2 wiping my softmod later on. (Well there might be if there comes a 4.3 of course but thats a different story).
But the main question is, should I stick with 4.0E, and if so, why?
Thanks a lot larrylje, your guides were very good both in terms of getting things done, but also to understand what I'm actually doing.
Turns out I had to install GX USB loader as well, since CFG Loader just didn't want to recognize my 16 GB USB memory stick at all. Works fine with GX though.
