Back ups with Green Screen Please Help!

I am a noob so sorry if this is a silly question but I don't know what else to do.
I soft modded my wii following www.wiiguide.co.cc and everything was perfect. I can put my backed up games in and play no problem. Then started to try out the USB loader and that seemed to work out great. Now, a number of what I download and everyone else says works, it doesn't for me and gets caught on a green screen that goes no where. Sometimes if I burn and it doesn't work, I put it on a flash drive and I can get it through the USB loader but not all the time. Is there anything I can do to the wii or the game to make it work?
I burn with CloneCD at 2X. I don't feel like it's a Wii firmware issue because some games work just fine that are newer.
