Backing up dvd movies using Wii like USB Loader

Are there any homebrew applications that allow a dvd movie to be backed up to an external USB drive similar to what USB loader does for games? Can the backups then be played directly from a USB drive?

Find the app you want and put it in the app folder on your SD card.

I've used mplayer_CE for sometime now. It can be glitchy from time to time. Works great with xvid/divx, but struggles with anything of higher resolution.

I just found wiimc. Haven't tried it yet, but claims to have better compatibility with different video formats, like 480p, .mkv etc.
