Hi everyone I'm currently using the new usb external slim line gdr 8082n model drive to back up my wii games with great success, my only problem is that when I dump my games the speed slows down more and more as it progresses. To the point that it takes a total time of 4 hours to finish, the rawdump program states that it should take around 2.5 hours. So my question is: Is it my computer or is it just that the drive itself is slow? Does anyone else have one? Thank you for your help.

I just ordered 2 of those drives so my input isn't really valid yet, but those times sound about right since you're using external USB and there are addl. variables to consider.

I will mounting mine internally in a laptop or via converter to a desktop PC.

That sounds about right... even on my internal 8162b drive it does the same thing. Although it only takes about 2 1/2 hours, not 4 hours... but it does slow down.

I never pay attention to backup times.

1)I run in safe mode
2)Backups are reserved for overnight

Ok I guess thats just the way it is. I was reading through the forums while i was backing up one of my games and I managed to find a new app for the wii called superdump. Wow was I excited, this not only works but quaters the time of getting my game backed up. Dumped the game in around 30 mins,(in pieces, .bin files)put them together to makes iso,(around 5 mins) burnt onto dvd and away I went. What a magnificent app that is. Thanks to all who had a hand in that, youve outdone yourselves.

Superdump is fine, but I choose not to softmod my Wii.

If I didn't have several of the "magic drives" in my possession when I purchased my Wii, I might have chosen a different path.
