Cant Get Gecko Codes to work

Hi, I have been trying to use some gecko codes to squeeze some more fun out of multiplayer mariokart. Im looking for ways to tweak the options a bit when I play 4 player split screen.

Anyways, I have been trying to use these ocarian codes, I have the Ocarina Cheat Manager, I load the code on my SD card, and load the game through "Gamma Backup Launcher/The Backup channel". It says it sees the code and loads the game. Then when I play, it doesn't seem like anything has changed.

Heres a code I just tried:

Always have green shells [Dexter0]

Which I use along with
Write Char Offset [dexter0]

Anyways, I export this to GCT. My backup launcher ancknowledges its found the code and applies it, but nothing changes.

Am I doing something wrong?

Actually it works better with Gecko OS, then it did with the Backup Game Launcher. Anyways, I try it with 2 players, and player 1 has 1 bullet (that runs out), and player 2 has infinite bullets, not quite fair :)

Is this a bug, or is their something I dont get about the Character offset code?
