CFG USB Loader disc slot starts flashing and game stops, need help.

Happens with several games, if I'm playing from anywhere between 15 mins to couple hrs, disc slot will start flashing (not the fast flash that occurs if the drive is unplugged) and I stay in game, might even see menu, but can't play. Running v56, just upgraded from v50 hoping it would resolve the issue. Any help would be appreciated. Installed using Larry's guide, 4.1u firmware.

Edit: So I tried turning the HDD off and back on during gameplay when it started to happen and the game picked up again. This time it was NHL2k10 and I was still playing the game but the announcers had stopped speaking, shut off hdd and turn back, announcers are back. Really weird. Read that it might be caused by the HDD spin slowing down but if anybody else has something to offer, please do.
