I do have a chipped wii but don't know what kind coz I got it already chipped. It was on 3.4u. My cousin borrowed it and when I got it back it was already in 4.1u and it was not playing backup games anymore. I used to just load the game in the disc channel. I could not figure it out so I decided to softmod it. I upgraded to 4.2u and installed homebrew and neogamma and dvdx successfully but still can't get it to run backup games.

I wanted to know if I did have a wiikey on it so I downloaded the update 1.9 and burned it on a cd-r but the wii won't recognize the disc so I thought I probably have a diffrent chip like drivekey. I tried to press the eject button 3 times to see if I can get into the chip's settings but the settings is not coming up, so I guess it's not a drivekey either. I do know it will be an older kind of chip coz I got the console about 2 years ago.

Any ideas on how I can have it play backup games? Any information or suggestions will surely be appreciated. I've been trying to search the web for a couple of days now but to no avail :(

Thank you in advance.

The wii cannot read CD's. So burning the wiikey firmware onto a CD-R isn't going to work even if you do have a wiikey.

If all you installed is homebrew channel, neogamma and dvdx then you have NOT completed the softmod process. Follow one of the guides.

If original games still work, I would guess that your modchip has either become corrupted in some way (It's rare but can happen) or come partially desoldered (More common problem)

Thank you for letting me know about the wiikey. I will try to burn it in dvd-r. I did installed cios and deleted the 4 cios that the softmod instruction says to uninstall and installed the cios 249, i believed. i did everything in the instructions.

There is no way for me to open the wii due to the triangle screw it has. I have to buy the special tool for me to open it so I am relying in softmodding the wii.

Thank you for your reply. Any other suggestions or ideas will surely be appreciated.

Thank you again

Tried to burn Wiikey update into a dvd-r but still, Wii can't recognize it. For sure i don't have a Wiikey chip.

Anybody have any ideas or suggestions on how I can enable backup playing?

Thank you.

I really can't figure out what is going on with this wii. I tried to softmod it with different procedures but still won't play backup games. If anybody can give their insight, I surely will appreciate it. I'm really desperate :(

If your Wii is softmodded why not load your backups via USB stick/hard disk using a USB loader ex Config USB loader??

I do have USB Loader on it. I just want the backup loader to work like before. It's like buying a car with all accessories but not using them :) I just can't have my hdd full time on the Wii.

Is the latest version of cios on it? I remember using Wiigator and something else to load up games from discs.
