HI everyone,
a year ago I bought the D2pro9 v1 for my d2c wii console that I have, Its upgradable, but I never upgraded it to new firmware because I dont know which one to choose in http://www.d2pro.com/resources.html
all the wii games we got worked fine that why I didnt do any update or uprgade to the wii chip. Lately my wife got the New super Mario game 2009 and it didnt wanna play, it says check disc and also said to upgrade the nintendo wii menus, knowing that if we upgrade our system with the modchip on it will screw up the wii we didnt do it.
here is what it says.
Important!
"The wii console must have the latest vesrion of the wii menu in order to play the disk, Please check the included instruction booklet for more information on wii menu updates"
So please can anyone guide this newbie to the right direction with more details in how to upgrade modchip/wii console to get the latest updates to be able to play new games.
thank you.

If you're using the retail game and just need to update the Wii system menu you should be able to do so without effecting the mod chip. Does your mod chip connect via 15 wires, 9, or 6? that will determine which disc image to download to upgrade the chip. extract and burn to disc, run as a gamecube disc in the disc channel, use the Wii reset button to navigate through the menu. If you want to check your firmware insert the config disc and it should give you the chip info. The current firmware is at v1.7 and will not let you play a back-up version of NSMB. ---Chikn

The back-up of New Super Mario is not yet working on the D2Pro, unfortunayely for us. There have been no updates that detect or disable mod chips on the Wii so you will not disrupt the functionality of the chip via update. tTo update you can update from Nintendos server or from a game disc with an update. Make sure you disable update blocking on the D2pro. ---Chikn

Yep, no problem with games working after the update. If you use any home brew there may be other issues to sort out. But as far as back-up games go all still work except for NSMB. You can use the system update on the Wii, that should bring you up to 4.2, or any game with an update newer than what is presently on your Wii. ---Chikn

If you update to system menu 4.2 you will no longer be region free on the chip.It will only run console region games.NSMB runs from the disc channel on our Wii,but with softmods as well as the D2pro chip.My chip firmware is 1.7 from the dvd update

So, to clarify, NSMB does not work with the chip alone, you must have at least neogamma installed + chip. ---Chikn
