D3-2 drive swap problem

So I got a new wii with I believe has a d3-2 drive, at any rate, it won't work with a sunkey lite. So I was told I could do a drive swap, so I got a D2C drive to swap it with, and when I tried the new drive, it wouldn't take in the discs. It tried to but couldn't grab the discs. Does anybody know if your able to swap drives if you have one of the d3 drives that you can't chip? maybe its just a faulty drive I bought... thank you for your help

As far as I'm aware there shouldn't be any problems swapping the drive. It sounds like you got a bad one.

Instead of ordering another though, I would just install a USB loader. You can get a hard drive large enough to store all the games you could ever want for far cheaper than another drive would be.

Okay so I talked to the seller and he asked if flashed my firmware? Isn't that a 360 thing? Im at 4.1u, should I need to do anything to my sunkey lite which works with other drives, the drive doesn't accept discs with out the chip either
