A while back, I used the gamecube action replay with my wii and everything was good. Then I upgraded the firmware on my wii and it could no longer read the action replay.
I read here that there was a firmware update meant to disable homebrew stuff, modchips, etc and this is probably the update that disabled me from using my action replay on my wii.
Do new wii's still have the old firmware or do I have to look for a used one?
What you need first off, is to name your threads better (no one will read your thread to help, if we don't know what the thread is about in the first place) Ok, the the chastising parent in me aside...
You are right about the firmware update, that's the reason AR won't work, but I can help you. What you will need to do, is get ahold of mios vs 4(gonna have to google to find it) and you will need wad manager to install it, also most importantly a way to run homebrew (for the wad manager)so your gonna need the homebrew channel, there are tons of threads about how to install the homebrew channel, so I'm not gonna get into that.
Basically, what this is gonna do, is install a custom firmware for the part of your wii that reads GC discs. The wii will think it's ok to read the disc again, instead of pretending like its some kinda evil cancer, as Nintendo would have you believe. Now I'm not sure, but after another firmware update, you might have to reinstall the wad again, so keep the file handy.
Ok so recap... you need: Mios vs 4
Homebrew channel
Wad manager
and an sd card to read the data from
If you have any questions, or run into trouble trying to get hb channel or wad manager running, feel free to ask me, and I'll help you as best I can.
