Determining my Wii and mod?

OK, I just recently purchased a Wii that has been modded. I really haven't played the Wii much in the past so sorry if I sound like a tard.

I'm wondering is there a way to determine what type of mod I have and the version of the Wii I have. I just want to be sure to know these things prior to asking any future questions. Thanks!

To check what Mod you have, you can try and look for a Homebrew Channel on your system menu. If you do then you most likely have a softmodded Wii. If not your Wii could be hardmodded with some sort of modchip that allows your Wii to read and play burned backups. For System Version you can go into the Wii settings and it will be listed there.
