disc read error after update?

i have a wii key 2 (original with yellow serial sticker) installed and it has worked great. my kids bought ghostbusters for it and wanted to play but it said it needed to update. i didnt let them do it and started reading on wii updates. from what i understood your wii will get bricked if you try to update with a game from another region. even though they got the game from walmart i connected the wii to our wireless internet and updated it that way now it has 4.1u firmware but now we get disc read error on all games including the originals. do anyone have any idea as to what i can do? thanks

Why not tell what the problem was and what the solution was? That way others can benefit from this thread.

You come to the community for help but yet seem to not want to contribute back to the community when you fix your own problem.
